On The Run

1981

Ballet here,

Racquetball there,

Going, going- everywhere.

Don’t forget this!

Here- take that!

Where’s the maze for me, the rat?

Going in;

Coming out:

Quiet girls- and please don’t shout.

Bring clean clothes up;

Take all the dirt down;

At the next free moment I must go to town

Wallpaper the walls;

Vacuum the floors;

And look- I see more dust on the doors.

When does it stop?

What more must I start?

To get everything done is truly an art.

I just started the day;

How can it be night?

Someone- please tell me to turn off the light!
