Star Cookies

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt
Cream shortening and butter with sugar until light and fluffy
Add vanilla, egg, and milk; beat thoroughly
Add dry ingredients and mix well
Chill dough 1 hour for easy handling
Divide dough into 4ths; roll out to desired thickness
Cut with cookie cutters (you can use all stars or mix it up)
Place 1 1/2 inches apart on greased baking sheet
Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 8-10 minutes
Remove and cool on racks
Mix together icing into 2 cups, adding red coloring to one and green to the other. Ice and enjoy!
