The Art Of Discipline

1982

How do you teach a child

Not to push, bite, or hit?

What rationale is adequate

When teaching not to spit?

Can arguments for loving

Be impressed upon a child

By spanking him for doing wrong

When you are slightly riled?

And where does non resistance go

When you get so upset?

Is a child so unlike you and me

When his needs are not met?

To channel our emotions

Without hurting anyone

Is a goal that parent and child alike

Should strive to see well done.

Children will always question and test.

They will fight to try to win.

But look at yourself and not at the child

For the art of discipline.
